Sometimes one must stop, lower one's gaze, and let the eye sink into the thickness of the world. Interstice #1 is an invitation to that slowing down: a fragment torn from a large acrylic painting on canvas, isolated as though beneath a magnifying glass, revealing what lies hidden within the folds of lush vegetation. Here, nestled between two monumental leaves, a small bird is about to perform a skateboard trick — amusing, unexpected, almost incongruous.
The work is constructed as a diorama: offcuts of heavy paper, painted in acrylic across every shade of green, are cut with a scalpel and assembled in successive layers, raised on pieces of foam board. Depth emerges from this patient stratification — plane by plane, space hollows out, the scene comes alive. The circular mount heightens the magnifying effect, drawing the eye in until it loses itself there.
A unique, signed piece. Framed and ready to hang. A window opened onto a world where vegetation reigns in its full majesty — and where a small parakeet on its board reminds us, with quiet irony, that lightness is not frivolity: it may well be the most closely guarded wisdom of all living things.
